MEAN WELL of the SDG Group actively promotes climate action, and its carbon reduction performance has been recognized, achieving an "Excellent" rating in the "Temperature Rising Index for Pathways, TRIPs" evaluation, and has been awarded the "1.5°C Label Certificate" for the year 2024.

The Temperature Rising Index for Pathways, TRIPs, is jointly published by CommonWealth Magazine and the Corporate Sustainability Impact Center at Tunghai University. It uses climate scenarios from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and applies the Absolute Global Temperature Potential (AGTP) model to evaluate corporate temperature ratings. Simulating temperature data based on self-defined carbon reduction and net-zero targets illustrates future emission pathways for companies. MEAN WELL’s temperature rating, calculated through this model, is 1.521°C, aligning with the Paris Agreement's goal of limiting temperature rise to 1.5°C and significantly lower than the average temperature rating of 2.79°C for Taiwan's manufacturing sector.

Regarding organizational carbon reduction (Scope 1 and 2), MEAN WELL  actively promotes energy transformation, leveraging the 3+N application of power supply products and implementing ISO 50001 energy management to continuously optimize equipment in its facilities to improve energy efficiency. The company has also established its own solar power generation system to gradually increase the utilization of renewable energy.

For Scope 3 emissions, the product carbon footprint of MEAN WELL follows the ISO 14067:2018 standard and has been verified by a third party, SGS. The assessment covers the cradle-to-gate boundary (Business to Business) across three life cycle stages: raw material production, raw material transportation, and power supply manufacturing.  Beginning in early 2024, MEAN WELL built a carbon footprint platform to voluntarily disclose product carbon footprint information, meeting the needs of partners while also hoping to encourage more partners to pay attention to carbon issues.

"Joining Hands with Partners · Advancing Toward Carbon Neutrality" is one of the core projects of the SDG Group's carbon neutrality initiative. In 2024, we launched a Greenhouse Gas Inventory Training Course for suppliers and successfully prompted 32 suppliers to initiate greenhouse gas inventories after the course. SDG Group will continue to conduct partner carbon footprint courses, promote low-carbon materials, and plan to establish MWPRO (MEAN WELL’s  Supplier Material Carbon Footprint) to achieve the group's carbon neutrality objectives.

The SDG Group aims to reduce carbon emissions by 5% annually, achieve a 50% reduction by 2030, and reach carbon neutrality by 2050. We invite SDG partners to join us in creating a better environment for the next generation.
